THE PROBLEM

There was a need to construct a footbridge over a new road to provide safe access from hotels in Budva to the beach.

THE SOLUTION

The Tensartech TW1 Wall system was selected to form the new bridge abutments, carrying full bank seat loading and the wing walls.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION  

Pre-cast concrete TW1 facing blocks dry laid and anchored to Tensar uniaxial geogrids with selected local fill material were used to rapidly create stable bridge abutments and wing walls. The full bridge bank seat loading was supported directly by the Tensartech wall system. The 4.5m high structure is less sensitive to differential settlement than traditional reinforced concrete. As the area is prone to earthquakes, the structure was designed with high resistance to seismic loading.
