Tensar TriAxTM geogrids Tensar has re-engineered the fundamental structure of geogrids to create a new revolutionary product. The TriAx geogrid is the culmination of years and research based on one of the most stable forms - the triangular structure, TriAx represents the future of geogrid technology. Tensar International SS geogrids are used as solutions for the reinforcement of soils and aggregates in construction of structures such as working platforms, road pavements and reinforced foundations. Tensar SS geogrids are stiff monolithic geogrids with integral junctions. They are orientated in two directions such that the resulting ribs have a high degree of molecular orientation which continues through the area of the integral node. The ribs have a rectangular cross section with square edges.
RE geogrids by Tensar are built to reinforce soils in the construction of structures such as bridge abutments, retaining walls, geocell mattresse, steep slopes and slip repairs. Tensar uniaxial geogrids (characterised by long, slim apertures) have been orientated in one direction during manufacture to produce high strength in the direction of roll length.
The construction of structures such as fills supported by piles, embankments and fills placed over voids attain the best results using Tensar International's Basetex geotextile for soil reinforcement. Basetex is a high strength geotextile manufactured by the weft insertion process. It consists of bundles of high tenacity polyester fibres which have a high degree of straightness in the longitudinal direction, that is, in the principal direction of loading.
Tensar International's Glasstex is predominantly suitable for situations with sustained loading such as that caused by soil swelling tension stresses, frost heave or by temperature induced joint movements. Glasstex is a composite consisting of bundles of glass filaments stitched onto a polypropylene paving fabric in both the longitudinal and transverse directions using polyester (PET) yarn. The glass fibres provide high tensile stiffness, and the polypropylene fabric provides a means of maintaining the required geometry of the composite, as well as a fixing layer during installation. Once installed and saturated with bitumen, the paving fabric then acts as a waterproofing layer.
Tensar AR-G composite is suitable for increasing the fatigue life of pavements with weak foundations, reducing rutting and controlling reflective cracking. Tensar AR-G is a composite consisting of a stiff monolithic geogrid with integral junctions (Tensar AR1) bonded to a non-woven paving fabric. Tensar AR1 is orientated in two directions such that the resulting ribs have both a high degree of molecular orientation which continues through the area of the integral node, and a rectangular cross section.
The control of soil erosion on slopes can be solved with the Tensar Mat, including slopes that are intermittently wetted or are subjected to wave run-up. Tensar Mat is manufactured from polyethylene which makes it chemically inert and therefore non-corrodible. The mats have a flat, high tensile modulus base layer bonded to an upper cuspated surface which provides an array of pockets and traps for topsoil retention. The mats provide long term reinforcement to the root system.
