Foundations over Piles
Deep foundations using vibro concrete columns or piles, which reside on a firmer strata below are the most likely solution for constructing an
embankment or platform where a settlement cannot be tolerated.
To avoid the cost of using a concrete raft, seperate pile caps or ground beams for this kind of deep foundation, the Tensar Load Transfer Platform
(LPT) can be used to distribute the embankment load efficiently onto a series of columns or piles. Reinforced with multiple layers of Tensar biaxial grids,
a good quality granular fill forms the most economic Load Transfer Platform solution, however a Basetex tensioned membrane creates a high quality
alternative LPT.
A Tensar Load Transfer Platform (LTP):
- Avoids the need for concrete rafts, pile caps or ground beams
- Avoids the delay required for consolidation settlement
- Is, in summary, rapid and economical to install
- Can be used under ground-bearing slabs to avoid or minimise bending
- Is a proven, reliable solution
